What is Kuno Silat?

Kuno Silat is a traditional Indonesian martial art originating from West Java, Indonesia, and is a subset of the older system known as Sera or Serak Silat. This martial art focuses on powerful combative stances, close-range striking, positional control, and efficient takedowns. It emphasizes swift and effective sweeps, throws, and takedowns, making it highly effective for self-defense purposes. Kuno Silat's techniques are designed to counter aggressors, even when facing multiple attackers, by employing aggressive defensive strategies aimed at preemptively neutralizing threats. With its emphasis on close-quarters combat and offensive tactics, Kuno Silat stands out as one of the most efficient and formidable forms of self-defense available today.

Why train at Kuno Silat Pittsburgh?

Kuno Silat’s effectiveness is based on laws and principles that anyone can learn.

Kuno Silat is as much a mental challenge as it is physical. It's not just learning how to defend yourself, students are taught situational awareness and to remain calm in stressful situations while aware of your surroundings.

Training at Kuno Silat Pittsburgh encourages thinking before acting, which is beneficial to both martial arts training and everyday circumstances.

Training will teach real life and practical techniques to defend against an attacker or attackers if necessary. Students are taught to respond, not react. When reacting, the attacker is in control; when responding, you are in control.
